The Rhode Island Black Film Festival celebrates the Black Experience in Film.  The Rhode Island Black Film Festival showcases independent, short, and feature films and documentaries, and hosts panel discussions that foster a dialogue about social justice and civil rights issues effecting persons of African, Afro-Carribean and Afro-Latin background. 

The Rhode Island Black Film Festival showcases independent, short, and feature films and documentaries, and hosts panel discussions that foster a dialogue about social justice and racial issues.

RIBFF provides a platform for awareness for health, economic, environmental and education disparties. Our films and panel discussions will discuss serious issues and also mark the milestones and remember the historic events that currently shape our lives.  
From classic black cinema of THE JACKIE ROBINSON STORY to DO IT MAN: the Story of the Celebrity Club to Paul Laurence Dunbar.  Rhode Island filmmaker Kendall Moore. and introducing new talent from the region. The Rhode Island Black Festival is where social justice and cinema take a seat.

 

Set against the social, political and cultural landscape of the times, CHASING TRANE brings John Coltrane to life as a fully dimensional being, inviting the audience to engage with Coltrane the man, Coltrane the artist. A Toronto International Film Festival winner. If you are a jazz enthusiast, you do not want to miss this one
